Measuring Human Experiences to Advance Safe Water for All

The WISE Scales enhance and expand the ability to measure problems with water experienced by households and individuals. Measuring water insecurity is a way to quantify experiences with access and use of water for consumption, hygiene, and other daily needs. The WISE Scales can be used by scientists, program developers, community leaders, and policymakers to understand the prevalence of water insecurity in a disaggregated way, track its changes over time, and understand how water insecurity relates to other indicators of health and wellbeing.
