Three IPR faculty were recently named 2018 Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science.
IPR health psychologist Greg Miller, finance professor and IPR associate Paola Sapienza, and professor and founding chair of medical social sciences and IPR associate David Cella were recognized for exceptional research performance based on multiple papers they co-authored in their respective fields that were published and cited between 2006 and 2016.
The list identifies 6,000 scientists and social scientists around the world “who have demonstrated significant influence through publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade.” The highly cited researchers’ papers rank in the top 1 percent of all papers in terms of citations for the field and publication year.
Miller’s research focuses on how stress affects health. In recent years, his work has emphasized early-life stressors related to poverty and how they might influence disease risk across the lifespan. His long-term goal is to establish a behaviorally and biologically plausible understanding of the connections between stress and health. He co-directs the Foundations of Health Research Center at Northwestern.
Sapienza is an expert in economics of culture, banking, and financial institutions, behavioral economics, behavioral finance, corporate finance, emerging markets and regulation of financial markets, private equity, and venture capital. She also serves as a faculty research fellow in the National Bureau of Economic Research’s program on corporate finance and political economy.
Cella’s expertise lies in applied health status measurement, and he has led development of numerous item banks and instruments. He has worked to ensure that the voice of the patient is reflected in clinical care and research and that measurement is sensitive to diverse populations. He also directs the Institute for Public Health and Medicine Center for Patient-Centered Outcomes.
Greg Miller is the Louis W. Menk Professor of Psychology and an IPR fellow. Paola Sapienza is the Donald C. Clark/HSBC Chair in Consumer Finance Professor at the Kellogg School of Management, and an IPR associate. David Cella is Ralph Seal Paffenbarger Professor and founding chair of the department of medical social sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine, and an IPR associate.
