IPR’s inaugural news magazine, Research Impact, is now available online! This new publication highlights many of our faculty's notable activities and research across 2024 and 2025.

Our first issue showcases how IPR research moves beyond the page—shaping policy, informing public debate, and addressing urgent challenges, including safe drinking water, violence prevention, and health disparities. If you want to learn more about any of the research covered, you also can dive deeper at ipr.northwestern.edu

DNA Project Seeks to Reunite Ukrainian Children with Their Families
As Russia’s war on Ukraine enters its fifth year, more than 35,000 Ukrainian children remain missing. Northwestern’s Global FamDNA Working Group, co-led by IPR political scientist Tabitha Bonilla and geneticist and IPR associate Sara Huston, is building the first independent DNA repository to reunite families torn apart by conflict. After fieldwork in Ukraine, the team is laying the groundwork for a system designed to help families reconnect now—and decades in the future.
