The Gallup-UNESCO-Northwestern University consortium is currently raising funds to implement the IWISE Scale in 140+ countries in 2021-2026. As important as water is, there has been no source of robust, global, and timely data on water insecurity at the household level.

Worldwide data on household food, energy, and health have been fundamental for business, technology, and policy—but our striking lack of data on water hinders effective action to monitor and mitigate the problem, which affects billions of people.

The data and accompanying reports will be a unique and valuable global public good that is used by international stakeholders, development organizations and national governments to determine their priorities, target resources, and measure impacts upon water security. More details are available by emailing wise_scales@northwestern.edu.
